Connecting a home computer to a computer on a corporate domain requires an intermediate step to ensure that the computers can communicate. One way to do this is to establish a <glossaryEntryLink><linkText>virtual private network (VPN)</linkText><uri href="mshelp://windows/?id=20987c4c-484b-49be-b131-0b5cdd7bbccc#gtmt_virtual_private_network__vpn__def"><summary>View definition</summary></uri></glossaryEntryLink> connection to the corporate network. Another way is to use a Remote Desktop Gateway (RD Gateway) server.

for more information, see <navigationLink targetVerification="false"><linkText>What is a Remote Desktop Gateway server?</linkText><uri href="mshelp://windows/?id=011fcc70-fdb7-43fc-ae08-b33169b3f696" /></navigationLink>

If server authentication is enabled, you must type a full computer name (for example, Computer1.Example.com) on the General tab of the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box.
